About Us
Training
Platinum Performance Horses is the result of many dreams coming true and years of hard work and research. The stars have aligned for head trainer Mariah Wilson, who has been riding since the age of 4, to finally live the dream of training horses professionally. After many years working for other trainers and horse farms ranging from Arabians to Thoroughbred Racing to Icelandics and even now Roping and Rodeo horses, Mariah is ready to share her knowledge and experience with other horse enthusiasts. With an ideal training facility and excellent horses to share, Mariah possesses the skills and ability to take horses and riders to the top of their game.

With many years experience in the show ring, Mariah has personally accomplished goals that many amateur riders can only dream of. Achievement awards reach their pinnacle at the "Rider of Excellence" as recognized by the Arabian Horse Association for Amateur riders competing in recognized competition. This is an accolade which is not only very difficult to aspire to, but Mariah has done so completely independent of a trainer of her own. It could be called "training by trial" that Mariah has learned the finesse of successful showing of Arabians and Half-Arabians and from close study and personal involvement. It took some errors and lessons throughout her show career, but now Mariah is a strong competitor in many divisions including Hunter Pleasure, Sport Horse, Dressage, Show Hack and Western Pleasure as well.

While horse shows are the ultimate test of training and quality, starting young horses and helping older horses to be more agreeable to their owners is a very large part of what Platinum Performance Horses is all about. The relationship that a horse can offer to a person is one that is not able to be explained in words, it must be experienced. The magic that children feel when they understand balance on top of a moving horse is unmatched by anything that money can buy. Adults feel the same momentary freedom from the burdens of everyday life when they can escape to the place only the horse can offer. It is with this passion that we start many young horses and teach riders of many experience levels the great gift of horsemanship. Coordination, patience, communication and understanding are the basis for teaching horses. Horses themselves are the one responsible for teaching Mariah 90% of what she is be to continue to use on a daily basis. It is with this consideration and fairness that Mariah is able to effectively and efficiently train all types of horses and share the rewards with her clients. Our entire program is based on training of the horse and we encouraged participation from owners throughout the process.

Platinum Performance Horses is the new home for competitors to come and learn together and compete for the prize that truly comes from genuine horsemanship. There is a sense of pride in the manner in which Mariah trains her horses, not as tools but as partners. Horse showing can be a very traumatic and stressful experience to horses who have not been introduced to the sport with great care. It is with the primary concern for your horse's mental and physical well-being that we can show you the rewarding sense accomplishment that a ribbon can give you for that fleeting victory lap. Most importantly, we strive to ensure that your horse is a safe and willing partner for you to enjoy for much longer lasting results than any show ring class can provide.
Space is limited for the 2012 show season. We want to ensure you and your horse have the attention needed to achieve best results. Please visit our Schedule to see where we plan to attend venues for the year.
Lessons
Lessons are available for all levels of riders, with one of our school horses or your own horse. We also offer lease options on seasoned show horses for those interested in "getting their feet wet" in showing prior to making the commitment to purchasing a show horse of their own. From adults to children, competitive to recreational.
Lesson cards are now available too!
Boarding

We Currently have several stalls available for boarding. Our facility is very safe, clean and private with the utmost attention to you and your horse's individual needs. Boarding rates include feeding twice per day which consists of your choice of high quality alfalfa, grass and pellets. Also included is daily stall cleaning and turn-out in either grass or dirt pasture twice per week. Stalls have indoor 12X12 box with 12X24 attached outdoor run. Outdoor stalls have 12X10 covers with an overall stall size of 12X32. These are comfortable and large stalls, suitable for small horses and also for our resident percheron and clydsdales. Fencing between all horses is solid 6-Rail welded pipe to prevent possible injury or "neighborly" problems between horses. Feeders are large and attached to the wall, going to the ground. This helps greatly in reducing the amount of bedding consumed since the feed is secure in the large ground feeders. We have planned out the details in building our dream barn so that you don't have to worry about them!

Our facility also has available for it's boarders many amenities that are not always easy to find. The wash rack has three separated, matted bays for grooming in the shade and out of the weather, under cover. Hot water will be coming soon. Sturdy tie posts are also mounted outside the finished and insulated tack room with attached bathroom. Friends and family can watch you work with your horse safely from our raised observation deck which is covered and railed to give the perfect view of the arena and round pen while offering a comfortable place to sit out of the sun and sand.

The finished arena is fully 5-rail fenced with several gates equipped for opening while mounted and a complete alley system for team roping and working cattle practice. The ideally sized round pen is inside the arena which is very beneficial for those of you with young horses transitioning to the "big pen." It is a safe place with higher rails to ensure safety for your horse's legs as well as give a good training atmosphere without the intimidation and distraction of the large 150' X 250' arena.
Please provide your current coggins and health certificate for new horses upon entering facility. Indoor box stall board is $420/month. Outdoor stalls $385. Please call Mariah Wilson for availability or a visit to Platinum Performance Horses. Only 10 minutes from the Big I, it's a horse enthusiast's dream and Albuquerque's best kept secret for equestrian properties. We are also surrounded by excellent riding trails on safe ditches as well as river riding on the Bosque.
